Sophie Porte

Sophie Porte is a fully qualified and experienced ASA level 2 swim teacher.

She started her swim career as a competitive swimmer at Camden Swiss Cottage before taking her level 1 Assistant Teacher’s Certification in 2010 and her full Teacher’s Certification the following year. Sophie taught at Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club and GLL for four years during and after qualifying. Her swim teaching experience is diverse, from teaching parent and baby classes to coaching competitive squads up to Olympic qualifying levels. Whilst living in London, she taught in three different swimming pools ranging in depth and size and is very comfortable teaching a wide variety of stages and abilities. More recently, she has been teaching for J9 Swimming in both Bushey, Borehamwood and Ealing.  Sophie has the ability to help swimmers achieve their potential, whatever that potential may be.

Sophie qualified as a lifeguard whilst teaching and attends monthly workshops to maintain her life saving skills. Ever enthusiastic to develop her professional skills, Sophie has now qualified as a Rookie Lifeguard Instructor which means that she is well placed to teach lifesaving skills to her swimmers.  Further, she carries enhanced DBS certification.

Sophie’s strengths are her timekeeping, interpersonal and organisational skills. Moreover, she is friendly and confident in her abilities to teach, drawing on her own personal experiences in the water.  Sophie is a Fellow of the Institute of Swimming.

Sophie lives in Borehamwood with her fiancé.
