Fully qualified and highly experienced, Julie was initially a diver before changing course and becoming a swim teacher. Julie’s philosophy is to ensure that all her swimmers can swim unaided and safely. She is able to plan, deliver and evaluate programmes for beginners through to those who swim at competitive level. Furthermore, she can assess and develop swimming strokes and teach advanced swimming skills, supported by the relevant scientific and current learning theories. At the other end of the age divide, Julie’s skills encompass baby and pre-school teaching where she is a specialist and certified instructor.
Julie teaches swimming to children and adults of all ages with a passion for water safety. She herself possesses a current and relevant safety award for teachers and she has attended workshops in safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. Enhancing her teaching skills still further, Julie is also an open water coach whereby she devises teaching programmes, coaches and develops safe practices in open water.
Julie is a member of the Swim Teachers’ Association. She lives in North London and is a frequent visitor to Borehamwood.
