Barbara Lindsay

Barbara came to swim teaching after her children left home for university and she was seeking a new career direction.  Her interest in swim teaching had been piqued when her son took up competitive swimming and subsequently qualified as a swim instructor.  Initially, she took her level 1 Assistant Teacher’s swim teaching qualifications prior to becoming a fully qualified level 2 Swim Teacher.  She shadowed fellow teachers on a voluntary basis to hone her teaching skills before taking responsibility for her own swim classes in Chesham.  She is familiar both with STA and ASA levels.

Barbara particularly enjoys working with adults and children who are nervous of the water and lack confidence as she has a very empathetic approach to her teaching.  She has experience of teaching from ducklings through to the more advanced stages of swimming and teaching groups as well as 1:1 swimmers and those with learning difficulties.  More latterly, she has been working for Watford Swimming Club. Barbara is fully qualified to plan, prepare, deliver, monitor and evaluate a series of swimming teaching sessions –  effectively and independently.

Barbara has her National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches.  Additionally, she has recently attended a Safeguarding Workshop and a CPD Workshop on ‘Improving Butterfly’.  She is a fully paid up member and Fellow of the Institute of Swimming and has enhanced DBS certification.

Barbara lives in Kings Langley with her children.
